Statement on LC Student Rankings

The Executive, on behalf of the membership of the ETBsNPA express concern regarding the proposed release of the class rankings of students following the process of allocating Calculated Grades.
It was clearly understood that the ranking position would not be released to students when teachers and management of schools carried out the process in good faith.
The ETBsNPA has strong reservations concerning the change as informing a young person of the rank that they were assigned cannot serve any purpose at this stage.
In addition in an era of concern regarding the Wellness of young people the release of the rank position information cannot be good for self- esteem.
We respectfully request Minister Foley and her officials to kindly reverse the decision to release the rankings.
